BULLSHIT At Barnes And Noble

Why You NOT Shop At Barnes And Noble
I think today I came across the BIGGEST heaping pile of BULLSHIT that I have ever encountered in my life time...
I just got KICKED OUT of Barnes And Noble for charging my MacBook Pro. Can you believe that?
Now as a skateboarder I'm used to getting kicked out of virtually everywhere I got, simply because I have skateboard in my arms or on my feet. Which REALLY pisses me off too, but that is for another time.
But I NEVER thought I would see the day where I am peacefully trying to get some work done, not bothering a sole, except for what seems to be Barnes And Noble's electricity bill...
You see, I'm kind of a coffee shop nomad. Meaning my average day pretty much consists of migrating from coffee shop to coffee shop in search of the fastest WiFi connection available. And I usually find it at places like Barnes And Noble or Starbucks.
Today I thought I found it, because I found a nice little cozy corner, out of everyone's way, where I sat and began to do my work. My buddy grabbed a copy of Timothy Farris's book, The 4 Hour Work Week, sat next to me and we began the session.
Not more than 20 minutes in, some fat lady approaches me and says "Hey, you can't be on the floor right here because you're blocking our customers." and that was totally understandable. I was totally cool about that and got out of the way real quick so the customers could get at their books.
Then I went by the Cafe where its supposedly acceptable to hangout with your MacBook. After scouring the whole entire plaza, I found one measly plug and the table was already occupied by some people. So naturally, being the solution seeker that I am, me and my buddy scouted the rest of the store for some more power outlets.
Next, we found another, even more hidden location in the store where there was basically no one at all. I'm talking not traffic, no customers, no employees. We grabbed two chairs from the cafe so there would be no more confusion about sitting on the floor and then we setup shop.
I popped the good old MacBook into the outlet there and got back to work on a niche site that I'm really excited about.
Little to my dismay, about 10 minutes later, a different lady, who was mildly attractive, came up to us and said in the bitchiest tone possible "Hey guys, I'm sorry to do this but you can't plug your laptop in here. In fact, you can't even have the cafe chairs out here. You need to put them back and leave."
After discussing the matter with her in a calm manner me and my friend decided to leave peacefully and go find another spot with free WiFi and power outlets, and WASN'T Barnes And Noble.
Trust me, I was pissed and I wanted to scream the ladies head off but I felt like that would have been out of place. Instead I decided to write this little review of my experience to let people know that Barnes And Nobles is fully of CRAP!
I honestly believe it is COMPLETE and UTTER BULLSHIT to kick someone out of your store for simply charging your laptop.
From a business standpoint, WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU DO THAT?!
Don't they understand that people need to eat and drink to survive? So even if I'm there all day taking up one measly little chair and power outlet. I will probably end up spending around $20 dollars on your food and drinks, PER DAY!
And now, because of Barnes And Nobles totally inconsiderate BULLSHIT, I'm NEVER going there again. And I don't think you should either. If you wanna get some books, go to borders, its WAY better there anyways. And most of the time, they are right next to each other.
So what do YOU think?
Was this a total injustice or am I completely out of line? Tell me in a comment below...

Well this said enough for me not to go there anymore! Unbelievable! I'm going to share this on FB wall. They owe you an apology and like a big gift certificate and even more should have a table with your name on it for forgiveness. ???( º.º )??? Is to Barnes & Noble.
Matthew,
It's interesting you say that! My just told me the local Barnes & Noble is closing up.
Wonder if there's something to it!?

Matt, I wouldn't take the mildly attractive girls personality and tone as a reflection of the whole entire company, the most I would have done was spoken to or written to her management. I've done that before at a local McDonald's store when I thought a staff member was totally out of line/rude etc..
I got a phone call from her manager saying sorry and that she has had some bad history with customers etc so they apologized. While I wasn't too fussed with my experience, I thought I'd write in to protect the experiences of other customers including the business owner so they were grateful I wrote in with my message. In your situation I would have done something similar.
The chick should have just moved you to a suitable location though with an outlet and you would have been happy with that provided there was seating etc. From what you have wrote, it's possible she was having a bad day or maybe you caught her off guard by being where you were. Either way she should have found a better solution for you in the end.
Wow, that's wacked. I can't say I've had a similar experience but I thing their membership program stinks. Who would spend money on a club card to save a certain percentage off in the future, and only on certain books? What a rip off!! FYI - a Borders card is free. I buy most of my books on Amazon now. If they keep that up, they may end up like Borders... (bankrupt).
