The Big Problem With Mac's

If you are into technology then you know that 95% of computer users have PC's. Microsoft pretty much dominates the market. And that is not a bad thing. But the problem is most people out there in the world today don't understand what makes a Mac a Mac. This is a growing epidemic. I cannot tell you how many people I come across who say they hate using a Mac. And then I simply ask them "Have you ever used one before?" They usually say no.

How can you say you think something is no good when you haven't even tried it out for yourself? In reality, a Mac is by far the easiest computer to use. It's labeled as grandparent friendly. Now I don't know about you but I could never picture a grandparent learning how to use a PC, they would just run into way to many problems. But on a Mac however, it would be a breeze because Apple Computers designs their products to be extremely user friendly. In fact, that is what they spend the most time deveolping, the user interface.

I am actually writing this article right now on my frist MacBook Pro that I have ever owned. And it is very interesting how I came upon this one. You see, before this computer I had one of those Dell Widescreens and it was great. But my business partner had a nice brand new 17" MacBook Pro and I was super jealous. So one day after we had just got done doing a video shoot for a client I was loading up all the gear into my car and had set my laptop down agaisnt the back wheel of my car. Finished loading everything else up and then proceeded to back out. Net thing I know I run over a huge bump, which felt like I had just ran over a child or something. I was tripping out. So I get out of my car in a hurry only to find that I had done none other than run straight over my Dell. That thing was curshed almost in half. Absolutely no chance of survival.

Ironically, about a week before this happened my bank had issued me a new credit card for Neer Design, my web design business with something like a $2000 dollar limit. So i don't know if this was fate but you better believe a week later I had a brand new MacBook Pro in my hands, and as soon as I pressed that crisp power on button I vowed never to use a PC ever again. The Mac was just was to clean. I mean it looks absolutely stunning. It is probably the fastest computer I have had yet. And if you really love windows all that much you can run XP or Vista on it. And for that reason alone, no one should ever get a PC again. Because why get a PC when you can get a Mac and have the best of both worlds. Mac made this possible because they have recently switched from their Power PC chips to Intel chips which allows them to run the same architecture as a PC.

Now that I have my Mac, I am able to so many things with such ease that I was not able to do with a PC before. Or at least without experiencing plenty of problems along the way. One of the most lucrative features about the Mac is that they cannot receive viruses. Well I shouldn't say can't, you can sure as hell get one if you are running windows on your Mac. But than that, viruses do exist for the Mac, but they are so rare to come by, that it is not really a big issue.

I just want to make one more point. If you are invovled in design in any way shape or form. You need a Mac. That is what they are built for. Mac's are literally the industry standard for producing Hollywood movies, music, special effects and everything else like that. So if you haven't tried one out yet, it's about time you run over your PC so you have no choice but you get a Mac.

You do definetly make a good point. If my budget permitted, it would be a Macbook i would be using to write this comment. However as it stands i could not justify the difference in price between the laptop i have now, and the price of a Macbook.

Possibly next time around i may be better able to get into the Mac price range with my budget.

I sure hope people can make a decision without running over their PC to do it! But it's a very effective point.

I have been using a Mac since 2003. I like it, but it doesn't compare to the Windows machines with compatibility. I love internet explorer. I can't get it on a Mac and I'm not a fan of Firefox. I do love Safari but I've had some minor issues that really annoy me. I also have an iPhone. After the most recent keynote 2010, I feel that Steve Jobs made up my mind to go back to a Windows laptop and dump my iPhone for a Google phone. He just seemed to stress things that point about Apple and it's products. Apple has too much control over their products (No Flash on the iPhone and that HTML5 was the 'way' of the future - but it's not the 'now', Steve). Don't get me wrong, I love all of my Apple products - I just feel after that Keynote presentation that Apple will not offer what the user wants without buying Apple approved and licensed products. That bothers me.

I'm a fellow Mac enthusiast who found this post to be a great argument about why Macs are superior to PCs in many ways. Your point about people who hate Macs answering "no" to whether they've used them before especially resonated with me. Thanks for posting this!

Let me be the first to say this: Get iWorks or MS Word for your Mac and use the spelling and grammar features. Secondly, if you want people to take your work seriously, stop using phrases like "tripping out".

@Jared M,

Man it sounds like you are nothing short of a hater. First off people make mistakes, get over it. And second, I would have to say that the phrase "Tripping Out" is pretty well versed these days. Its called pop culture. Get with the times brotha!

Thanks for the comment,

This is a great article. I am writing this on my macbook pro 13in, and i love it. Honestly it is the best computer i have dealt with so far. I do not hate PC at all, i just prefer the ease of use of a mac. There is undoubtably lots of advantages of using a PC, but i think overall mac is the way to go. I will agree with the argument of price justification. In terms of raw computing power, for the price of a macbook pro one could find a "better" PC. But usually mac users arent looking for the most RAM or fastest processor. All in all, i love mac they are the best :)

yup...good article...I know it comes down to preference and for me, my preference is to use windows for my desktop and mac for my laptop. I just enjoy the customization options you have for desktops, however for laptops I feel that nothing compares to my macbook pro. If you desire efficiency, ease of use, and enjoyment then mac is for you.
