Ebay is the largest shopping portal in the world right now. They have millions upon millions of customers buying on their site every day. Most people go to Ebay to get a great deal on something. And Ebay has just about everything including the kitchen sink.

But there are a few problems that I see with Ebay

• Bidders Pay More Than Retail Value
• The Prices Don't Have To Go Up
• Ebay Has Many Hidden Fee's

Dude, You're Gettin' A Dell

Bidders Pay More Than Retail Value

This is how you typical auction site works. The seller puts an item up for sale, usually starting at a low price. And then as more and more people see it, they bid higher and higher until the allotted time for the auction runs out. Then the item is sold for whatever the highest bidder put in. They win that item.

The problem with this auction model is that most of the time you will end up paying more than retail value for the item that you win. This seems kind of pointless when you could have just gone down to the store and got that same item cheaper. It would have just cost you a little bit of gas. (which isn't cheap either these days) I cannot tell you how many times I have won something on Ebay thinking that I got a great deal on it, only to see it at the store the next week for less than I got it for!

Reverse Auction

The Prices Don't Have To Go Up

What if Ebay starting using the concept of a reverse auction as an option on their website?

In case you are not familiar with that, a reverse auction is a system in which the price of an item is driven down with each bid instead of going up. Usually in increments of a few dollars.

I believe that if Ebay offered this type of auction system along with their shopping portal and regular auction site that they would be able to reach a new level with their business. However, they make so much money as it is that they probably are not that concerned.

Ebay Has Hidden Fee's

If there is one thing about Ebay that really grinds my gears was the many hidden listing fee's they have. And by hidden I mean they don't tell you about them unless you read the fine print. I remember when I used to sell many different things on Ebay from Pokemon cards to car speakers. I was doing really good but at the end of each month when it was time to pay my listing fees it was a huge hassle. And it really cut back on the amount of profits I was able to make and eventually I decided it wasn't worth my time.

What's crazy is that Ebay doesn't even make most of it's money from it's retailers. They make it from their shopping portal. So you would think they wouldn't have to charge such high listing fees. But sadly, they do...

The Dubli Network

The Solution

With all that said. I believe I have found something better. It's called Dubli. An exciting reverse auction site where the prices really do go down instead of up when you bid on any top self item.
